Corporate Bonds

Government Bonds and Treasury Bills

These are debt instruments issued by the Treasury in the domestic market. Debt instruments with a maturity of less than one year are called Treasury Bills, while those with a maturity of more than one year are called Government Bonds.

Debt instruments are securities that can be issued by the government or the private sector, have a specific maturity date, and provide the principal amount and a predetermined interest income at the end of this specific maturity date.

Corporate Bonds

Corporate bonds are the debt instruments, issued by private sector companies in order to meet financial needs and diversify funding channels. They are issued through public offerings and private placements (sales to qualified investors(*) or allocated sales). Corporate Bonds are supposed to provide a fixed or variable return if held until maturity and could be traded in the secondary market(**)

(*)Domestic and foreign investment funds, pension funds, investment partnerships, brokerage firms, banks, insurance companies, portfolio management companies, mortgage financing institutions, pension and welfare funds, foundations, funds established in accordance with Article 20 of the Social Insurance Law No. 506, public benefit associations, and other investors deemed similar to these institutions by the Board, as well as real and legal persons who, as of the issuance date of the capital market instruments, hold at least 1 million TRY in Turkish and/or foreign currency or capital market instruments, are hereby defined.”

Repo

Repo is a transaction where savers deposit their savings with an intermediary institution in exchange for a fixed return and receive securities as collateral. The intermediary institution sells the securities with a commitment to repurchase them. The securities subject to repo are debt instruments specified by the Capital Markets Board regulations. At Ak Investment, accounts with a balance of 1,000 TRY or more as of 3:15 p.m. are automatically invested in overnight repo unless otherwise specified by the customer.

Eurobond

Eurobonds are debt instruments issued in foreign currencies in international markets. They may be issued by public institutions, public legal entities, or private sector organizations. USD-denominated Eurobonds make coupon payments (interest payments) every six months, while EUR-denominated Eurobonds make coupon payments once a year.
